Fine over forestry worker’s death doubles on appeal

A six-figure fine handed down over the death of a timber worker has been nearly doubled on appeal in the Victorian County Court because the original fine was ‘manifestly inadequate’ in circumstances where the employer had been ‘blind to a common enough hazard’.
