Loader operator, aged nine, poses ‘unnecessary risk’, QIRC says


In what a judge described as a ‘novel case’, the Queensland Industrial Court upheld a directive preventing a nine-year-old boy from operating a large and heavy piece of machinery at a privately owned quarry, citing the risk posed by his physical limitations as well as uncertainty as to how the boy would respond to ‘worse case’ safety scenarios.
